I was wondering what the opinions of those who have already had chiropractic care for problems with the back of their neck/upper back because of wearing away of the cushioning between their disks , causing pinched nerves, cracking sound , some discomfort and pain in shoulder and back of neck? Regular appointments with a chiropractor usually won't mend the spaces between the disks- ( or will it)? so which is better: a chiropractor or diet supplement and/or with home massage and physical therapy in your own experience? Do you really feel that chiropractic care is the best option? What about taking certain diet supplements such a collagen, vitamin D and omega oils or other over the counter items that are claimed to build up what was lost, has any of that helped in really helped with continued use? Thank you for all of your comments.

Karen’s Intervention

Karen isn't insane, but waking up with pain every morning makes her sound insane! www.NaturaWorld.com takes on Karen's Intervention! Did you know that back pain accounts for almost as many doctor visits as sore throats. So many people suffering and so few receiving relief -- because a muscle relaxant is only a temporary solution. Find out what the real solution is!

I've had upper back (shoulder) pain for a few years now (I'm 25) - and recently developed neck pain. Going to the chiropractor does hlpe alleviate the pain, but it does not go away completely. And I'm worried the more I go to the choripractor, the more I will need it.

I've tried sports therapy, osteopathy, acupuncture, chinese medicine ball, nothing has worked as good as chiropractic, but I would like an alternative.

How do I get this knot out of my neck?

My muscles are all knotted up in the area between my shoulder and my neck. It's been there for months. It gives me headaches and I have a hard time sleeping.

I have had tried having people massage it out, heating pads, icy hot, ibufrofen, and some other random stuff but nothing has worked. I don't want to have to pay for a massage therapist or a chiropractor. What should I do?
I don't really have money to spend on a massage therapist

Treating Back Pain (Back Pain #2)

I got into an accident and hired an attorney with absolutely no understanding of what was going on. They refered me to a Chiropractor. I went to see her every other day for a couple months. I got x-rays in the begining and then did the same routine everyday got on a massage table, layed with a warm pad on my back, and she cracked my neck, and attempted to crack my back with no luck.
Now I have recieved the settlement which was a total of 15,000. The attorney took 4,500. She asked for a total of 4,500, and the medical bills were small from the physical therapy. I ended up with 6000.00.
I recieve the Chiropractor billing paperwork after asking for it. It shows that I was charged 6 times in one day for different charges, then 5 on another day, 6 another, 4 another. I have 3 pages full of random charges. Knowing that she is fairly close to the Attorney I feel that this is fraudulent. There are other things that I am noticing that also seem questionable.
Who do I talk to about this?
I am not upset at what the attorney took. I knew from the get go. The hard part is I have my suspicions about how honest this guy was. I have found that I was paid med pay, but never told until I recieved this reciept of what was paid out. They gave the chiropractor 1000 of that in the middle of my care without telling me, they told me I didn't get it. I asked for what the med reciept and see it was over 1600.00. Where did the other 600 go? The problem I think most have is that attorenys try to get away with anything. Especiually with people like myself who know nothing about the law.
I would let it go, I just want to know if what he has done is lagit, yet I have to go call every one of these places myself to find out whats going on. They won't provide me the info I am asking for. I also don't know what part of my file information i'm entitled to. I asked for it and only got a few pages. I know there is more.

A little over 7 months and just now starting to get hip aches. Some lower back aches, but it is mostly localized to my hips. For those who have been through it, I wondered what seems to help the most:
Massage
Chiropractor
Heating Pad
Stretching
Etc.
thanks in advance 10 points**

I have TMJ and have been seeing a Massage Therapist at least 1 time or 2 times a month for the past 1.5 years. And it does help, but I am tired of always being in pain, espacially in the morning when I wake up my neck and back hurt (not sure if this is related to the TMJ). I even bought a really good mattress about a year ago.
I am so sick of spending tons on money on massage, and taking tons of ibuprofen every day!
Any other suggestions ?

p.s. I tried a mouth guard, but it made things worse!
Ah GEEEEEEEZ I am an idiot! I meant to type CONSTANT, not constance!
DUH!!!

Also I have tried a Chiropractor, they took my money and basically did Nothing.

Does anyone have a remedy for backache?

I don't ususually have a problem with my back, but after moving air conditioners last weekend, and then sleeping on a "not so great" mattress for two nights after, an aching back has set in and NOT going away! (Yes, it's lower back.) FYI what I have tried:
Heating pad, heating packs, alternating heat with cold, muscle ointment, pain medication (Alleve), gentle exercise and flexing (although maybe someone would have some specific ideas here?), avoiding any lifting of even medium variety, trying to stay off the computer for most part(!), pillow for support....anyone with other ideas???

PS I have tried chiropractor in the past, and didn't like. Would consider massage therapy, but hoping for other solution before spending time and $$ for massage.
PPS Also wanted to let you know that I have NO medical insurance.
Appreciate answers still incoming, just an update on situation:
Did go to a trusted massage therapist. She thinks lower 5 back vertebrae + hips out of alignment. In doing pressure point, she really "hit home" (with pain) on an area of the chest, where the "psoas" is located (never heard of it before), a sausage-shaped muscle connecting back with leg; runs alongside ribcage. Makes sense because pain has begun alternating with lower right back/buttocks and right knee. Vicki is excellent, gives me sliding scale and really knows her stuff. Movement definitely started happening after seeing her; first time I have had periods of comfort in over a week. Trying to decide whether to go back to see her one more time this week --or go see a new chiropractor who magically "fell into my life" with high recommendation this week. Problem with chiropractor is the cost: 0 for first visit, 0 for visits thereafter,.

what should i do about my neck?

I have had bad neck pain for two years, my chiropractor took an xray and he said my head is permenantly forward even though i am trying to look up. similar to what happens with whiplash.

when anyone massages it or manipulates it or if its bad i throw up. i was being sick with blood but they didnt find ulcers or anything. i had torn my eosophogus from being sick hard.

if i go to the GP about my neck they give me exercises which make it worse. i was getting referred pain to my shoulder but that stopped after two cortisone injections. im now starting to get lower back problems too. i have been to physio but cant keep it up because the pain makes me sick and then im weak.

i was thinking of trying the out of hours clinic at the hospital to check it over. what should i do / what could it be? any massager /physio i see says i need something done asap or it will get worse.
if i do exercises for my shoulder it impacts on my neck because i cant get it to go normal. i cant always look up or to the side, and i have to sleep with lots of pillows as though im sitting up otherwise i cant sleep. part of my neck is going straight forward, if i try leaning back on a pillow it is agony even taking co-codimol

sorry for repeat and thank u :P
i cant lift anything either and am getting weaker. my doctor seems to dismiss it and just give more pain killers which dont help enough
i was referred initially to muscularskeletal physio but before they saw me they say i should go normal physio
